About Bud

Paul “Bud” Billiard, a.k.a. Budro and Coach B, is an experienced and veteran professional. He offers 35 plus years as a professional educator, athletic coach, movement and fitness developer, and public speaker. Any endeavor that he has been associated with has been successful. Paul has a belief that there are three personal qualities that we possess and will be with us forever, they include; what we know, what we can do, and what we have done. He has taken that philosophy and developed Pro Talk, an educational and speaking concept that offers a diversified approach of various presentations. In any scenario and to any group, he offers a very personal approach and provides a welcoming atmosphere and learning experience.

His experience originated at Wheeling Central Catholic HS, (CCHS) Wheeling, WV (4 years). There, he received his basic roots in teaching and coaching. CCHS was the foundation for all of his thinking and approaches he employed during his successful career. It was the laboratory phase of his professional experience. He continually strived for self improvement in his teaching and coaching roles by taking advantage of any learning opportunity. He also continuously developed various concepts, programs and methods of instruction for movement education, training, and conditioning. At Brooke HS Wellsburg, WV (31 years), his home community, he not only took home what he had learned and developed, but continued to expand his work and develop more programs. He maximized the fruits of his efforts by constructing a state of the art and nationally recognized football program.

His educational background is very complete. At CCHS he taught Health and Physical Education, and structured and maintained both male and female intramural programs. He was the coordinator and director of the entire program. He organized a physical education club that operated the entire Intramural program and assisted in many educational aspects. At Brooke, he taught Health and Driver Education. He served in many capacities of curriculum design and development. His leadership abilities were displayed as he served as a department chairperson, and head of all curriculum chairpersons. He contributed to the structure and advancement of numerous educational and school projects. He was very instrumental in the involvement of students to serve as assistants in many school “chores”.

At both schools, his programs and instructors were recognized by local and state educational groups for their work, achievement, and comprehensive approach to education.

While coaching, at CCHS Bud developed a winning track program, and as an assistant contributed to championship football and wrestling programs. At Brooke, he began as an assistant in football and wrestling. Later he became the head coach of both sports, but at different time periods. As the head wrestling coach he built a championship team that went on to win the WV Class AAA championship. As the head football coach, his program received recognition for bringing national positive attention to the Brooke community, the Ohio Valley, and the state of West Virginia. He has received numerous local, state, and national awards for the success of his teams.
